Sykea – Mycenaean tombs, 1400-1100 BC
Prefectural Administration of Lakonia
In 1974, an undisturbed Mycenaean tomb was found completely by chance next to the cemetery of the village Sykea, dating to the period 1400-1100 BC. In 1997 - 1998, another three Mycenaean tombs of the same period were opened by the Ephorate of Classical Antiquity. The grave offerings (decorated clay pottery, necklaces, semi-precious stones and bronze goods: swords, daggers and knives) can be found in Sparta Museum.
