Arcadia’s climate

University of Peloponnisos

The region’s climate is Mediterranean with bioclimatic character, a combination of an intense Mid- Mediterranean and mild Mid- Mediterranean type with about 70 in average dry days during summertime. The prevalent winds are the North, West and Southwest winds. The climate of the Arcadia perfecture, apart from the lower inshore regions, is rather cold. Although the coasts of Arcadia belong to the warmer zones of the country, in the inland areas the temperatures are much lower with harsh winter conditions. Indicatively, the minimum temperature of Tripoli in January is 1,2°C, while the absolute minimum falls under –18°C. Rainfalls exceeds 800mm, which are more intense at the inland, and there’s a gradual decrease from west to east.
