Geology of Arcadia

A big part of the Arcadian land consists of limestone. Due to eroded rocks and the geological faults there have been many natural phenomena in the specific area. Such natural phenomena are: the Caves of Kapsia and Dionysos (Sitzas), the gorges, underground waters and hot springs. Arcadia’s ground is semi-mountainous and mountainous. Its most important mountains are: Mainalo (1.980m), Oligyrtos (1.935m), Saitas (1.814m), Artemisio (1.770m) and Lykeon (1.750m).
