It was constructed by Polycleitus in the end of the 5th century B.C., carved on the rocks. It consists of 83 rows divided into three parts and it has a capacity of 13000-20000 spectators. It is considered to be the biggest theatre of ancient Greece.
The Argeian Polycleitus was a student of the Argeian Ageladas, as well as the famous Phidias, Myron and others. He also designed the theatre of Epidaurus. The sculptors of the Argeian School are considered to be the creators of European Art [Canon (Satellite)].
