Mani – Diros Neolithic Museum
Prefectural Administration of Lakonia
The exhibits in Diros Neolithic Museum (stone tools, bone jewellery, idols, etc.) were all found in Alepotrypa cave in Diros, and belong to the Neolithic period (4800-3200 BC). The plentiful drinking water and the cave lake were the reason why humans could survive inside it. Life within the cave stopped suddenly, after an earthquake around 3200 BC, when the entrance to the cave was sealed.
