Vloggos

University of Peloponnisos

At an altitude of more than 1000m, Vloggos offers a spectactular view to visitors and is considered to be the balcony of Peloponnese. Built on the top of the mount Echtichova it provides panoramic view of the wider region. On a clear day one can see the basin of Megalopoli, Taigetus, Lykeo Mountain, the valley of Alfeios, the Ionian Sea, and even Zakinthos. We do not know the exact date of the establishment of the village, but there are references from the early 18th century mainly in scripts of the Monastery of Philosophos and Aimialon. At the edge of the village lies the church of St. George, built in the early 19th century. From the church’s foundations spring water comes to the surface. There, on the 6 / 8 every year a traditional feast is organized. The village is characterized as a traditional settlement.
