Paralio Astros is one of the most famous holiday resorts of Arcadia. It has ideal tourist facilities including marina for boats and camping. The village is amphitheatrically built on a hill. At the top of the hill parts of the medieval castle remain. The castle was built at the time of the Franks, but was reinforced and used later at the time of the Ottoman Empire. Today large pieces of fortifying and two gates as well as a tower are survived. There are also parts of three dwellings of the 18th century. The castle is worth a visit. Near the medieval fortress there are ruins of ancient walls of the classical era. Below the castle, next to the lighthouse there is a small theatre, which operates during summer months and hosts many cultural events. A few kilometres outside Paralio Astros on the road to Neohori and Koutroyfa, lies the lagoon of Moustou. The area is a protected ecosystem and is an ideal place for walks.
