On the slopes of Menalo is the historic village of Piana. The village has played an important role in the revolution. The village is built on a superb location within fir trees and to offers wonderful view of the area. The church of the village is built on a rock and is dedicated to St. George. On the celebration of St. George’s Name Day cultural events are organized and traditional feasts are held there. There is also a folk art museum in Piana. Along with the folklore exhibits, a separate collection of religious objects is displayed. The village is a good starting point for hiking in Mainalo. Starting from Piana, a path passes through the cave of Panas, descends to the sources of Elissona, and passes through the water mills and the ruins of medieval town of Tavia, to arrive at the settlement of Ano Davia.
